SANTEE, Calif. —
A San Diego County sheriff’s helicopter crashed Sunday night in northeastern San Diego County, and both crew members were flown to a hospital, authorities said.
The pilot was in intensive care at one hospital and his crewmate was in serious to critical condition at another, sheriff’s officials said.
The Hughes 500 went down at 7:44 p.m. in a tree-covered area north of Santee Lakes about 20 miles northeast of downtown San Diego.
