Engineer Named to Advisory Council

Glen Wilcox, a software engineer and 17-year Oak Park resident, has been named the newest member of the community’s Municipal Advisory Council.

Wilcox, 55, succeeds longtime council member Chuck Monico, who resigned late last year for personal reasons. Wilcox will be installed during the council’s Tuesday meeting, and his term will run through November 1998.

“My main objective is to preserve the quality of life that we have,” Wilcox said. “It’s a matter of preserving what we have and making sure what few new things come in [to Oak Park] meet with the majority’s approval.”

Among the top items on Wilcox’s agenda are to:

* Visit each new resident of eastern Oak Park to inform them about the council’s role in the community.

* With council approval, establish a World Wide Web page containing agendas, minutes from previous meetings and other information. Residents would also be able to express their concerns to council members via e-mail.

* Meet with local newspapers to discuss expanding coverage of council activities.

* Improve community attendance at council meetings.

Wilcox, a designer of diagnostic software for Genoa Technology in Moorpark, said the time was right for him to begin serving his community.

“This is kind of a payback era of my life,” he said. “We’ve gotten a lot of blessings out of Oak Park, and it’s time to give something back.”

Wilcox and his wife of 32 years, Sally, are residents of Oak Park’s Chaparral tract. They have two daughters, Lisa, 30, and Leslie, 26.
