Zmolek Cleared to Play Saturday

Defenseman Doug Zmolek, hospitalized for the second time this month Monday because of an irregular heartbeat, was cleared by team doctors to play when the Kings host Vancouver on Saturday. Zmolek is not on any medication, but he is on a mineral diet to help prevent any more problems.

Left wing Kevin Stevens will play tonight against the Mighty Ducks at the Forum after missing the Kings’ loss to the Coyotes because of personal reasons, according to Coach Larry Robinson. . . . Defenseman Jan Vopat is expected to return after missing two games because of an ankle injury, and forwards Craig Johnson, Vladimir Tsyplakov and Yanic Perreault also could be back in the lineup for tonight’s game.
