Canyon Perils

* I wonder if the people of Corral Canyon in Malibu and other fire- and flood-prone canyons have the grace to worry about the valiant firefighters and other workers who risk their lives when the recurring fires and floods come?
The residents take great pride and satisfaction in staying there, regardless of the danger to the people who have to come to their rescue over and over. Of course the quiet and lovely views are wonderful, but they come at the cost of human lives and our taxes. Somehow that doesn’t seem fair.
