Logging On After a Day in the Sun
Visitors can check in and log on at the 507-room Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Lake Buena Vista near Walt Disney World in Florida. The hotel offers what it calls a CyberArcade--an eight-station Pentium 166 computer center with Internet access and games such as “Spiderman” and “X-Men.”
Although some business-oriented hotels offer Internet access, Holiday Inn spokesman Dan Ward said that “we believe this is the first dedicated area for kids and families to go online” at a hotel geared to vacationing families.
Guests get a password at registration and 10 free minutes online; then they are charged $9.95 per hour, automatically billed to their room by--how else?--computer. Informal introductory sessions are available for the cyber-impaired.
So far, the recently installed computers can’t compete with nearby theme parks during the day but get log-ons in the mornings and evenings, officials said. Still, the chain plans to put a CyberArcade in a new 800-unit hotel it expects to open in the area next year. Information: (407) 239-4500.
