Duck update--The Ducks have won two in a row and five of their last eight, and a victory tonight would give them their third three-game winning streak of the season. Edmonton has yet to beat them this season, and the Ducks have outscored the Oilers, 11-4. “You know the other team will be even more focused because they haven’t beaten us and we’ve snuffed their offense pretty well,” Coach Ron Wilson said.

Oiler update--Though they’re in the Western Conference’s upper tier, they have lost two in succession and are 1-3-1 in their last five games, a stretch that includes a 5-1 loss to the Ducks at the Pond on Feb. 17. Leading scorers Doug Weight and Andrei Kovalenko missed that game, but Kovalenko is expected to play tonight, despite recent back spasms. Weight is questionable because of a bothersome ankle. Defenseman Boris Mironov, the younger brother of the Ducks’ Dmitri Mironov, is out because of a groin injury. Backup goalie Bob Essensa is expected to take a turn in place of Curtis Joseph.
