Surge Has Team Thinking Playoffs

The Kings’ four-game winning streak, their longest in nearly four years, has the team thinking about making the playoffs for the first time since the 1992-93 season.

“We just got to play. We shouldn’t put too much pressure [on ourselves] and it will all take care of itself,” said forward Dimitri Khristich, who had two goals and an assist in the Kings’ 6-3 victory over Edmonton on Thursday night.

The Kings play 14 of their final 18 regular-season games against Western Conference teams; they are 15-22-5 in conference play.

The Kings had killed 28 consecutive penalties over five games before Edmonton’s Andrei Kovalenko scored with 40 seconds left in regulation. . . . Nearly 2,000 tickets remain for former King Wayne Gretzky’s only appearance at the Forum on Thursday when the New York Rangers play the Kings.
