Cotton, Long Beach Upend Pacific, 79-75
Guard James Cotton scored 27 points as Long Beach State ended its regular season Saturday night with a 79-75 Big West Conference victory over Pacific before 4,647 at the Pyramid.
Long Beach, which has won six of seven games, finished second to Pacific in the Western Division at 13-13 overall and 9-7 in the conference.
“This was a very important victory for us because Pacific is a great team,” Cotton said. “We’ve played well at the end of the season, so maybe this momentum can help us in the [conference] tournament.”
Forward Marcus Johnson had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for Long Beach. Guard Mark Boelter led Pacific (21-5, 12-4) with 24 points.
