Blackhawks Move Ahead of Ducks

Brent Sutter scored twice, Tony Amonte and Alexei Zhamnov both had short-handed goals and Jeff Hackett made 38 saves for his sixth career shutout as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes, 4-0, on Sunday night at Phoenix.

The victory was the ninth in 14 games for Chicago but first in three games against the Coyotes this season and vaulted the Blackhawks one point ahead of Phoenix and the Mighty Ducks in the playoff race.

New York Islanders 2, Washington 0--Tommy Salo continued his mastery of the Capitals, making 39 saves to earn his third consecutive shutout against them in the Islanders’ victory at Landover, Md.

Salo became the first New York goalie to blank one opponent three times in a season.

Philadelphia 5, Hartford 2--John LeClair had a goal and two assists, and goalie Garth Snow extended his unbeaten string to 16 games as the Flyers won at Hartford.
