Ever since Friday’s shootout outside a North Hollywood bank, the movie “Heat” has become a hot item at video stores around the Valley. Patrons are clamoring to rent the Al Pacino drama that begins with a violent heist. . . . Said Ericka Balbuena, an Encino salesclerk: “A lot of customers have been saying that the movie is basically the same as real life.”

Prime Time

Jason and Jarron Collins, twin stars of the Harvard-Westlake High basketball team, get a small taste of the big time this week. . . . Harvard-Westlake faces Morningside for the Southern Section Division III-A title Thursday. Fox Sports West 2 will broadcast a tape-delay of the championship game Friday at 8 p.m.

Bank On It

Perhaps wary in an age of bank consolidations, customers at the Encino-based California United Bank fretted at the news that their tiny institution will sell to Bancorp Hawaii Inc. (D11B). . . . A bank executive assured them that local management and the bank’s name will remain unchanged. “And that put our customers at ease within 30 seconds,” he said.
