Center Yanic Perreault underwent successful surgery for a kidney problem and is expected to make a full recovery and resume his career next season. He had 11 goals and 25 points in 41 games.

Goaltender Stephane Fiset, who has won five of his last six starts, said Friday he hopes to be sidelined for only a week because of a groin-stomach injury he suffered at Edmonton on Tuesday.

“One thing for sure is that [my injury] came at a bad time because everything was going so well for me and the team,” Fiset said. “But we are still in the race for the playoffs. I just want to play in [the next four home games].”

Forward Ian Laperriere, who recently sat out two games because of post-concussion syndrome, got a scare in the second period of Thursday’s 6-2 loss to New York when the Rangers’ Ulf Samuelsson cross-checked him in the back. “I don’t mind taking a good check when it’s fair,” Laperriere said, “but not when they come at my back.”
