Woodbridge (26-3)--The Warriors were preseason favorites to reach the championship game. They won their first league title since 1988, became the division’s top-seeded team and defeated the last four opponents by an average of 20 points. Woodbridge’s 6-10 center Chris Burgess, 6-6 forward Brandon Beeson and 6-1 guard William Stovall will determine whether the Warriors reach the top.

Villa Park (24-4)--This is the first section championship game for Villa Park, which breezed through the Century League. The Spartans have a big body to throw at Woodbridge, 7-1 center Eric Chenowith, the county’s leading rebounder. He is ably backed by guards 6-0 Isaiah Cavaco, 5-11 Alex Will and 6-3 Matt Poutsma.

Key to the game--The teams played Jan. 20 in the Pacifica Premier Invitational tournament. Woodbridge won, 71-56, primarily because Burgess (30 points) won the battle against Chenowith (18 points). Today’s game might come down to which point guard best controls the action. Cavaco can score as well as pass, as evidenced by his 21 points in the playoffs against Compton. Woodbridge’s 5-11 Peter Martinelli is not a scorer, but if he has Burgess, Beeson and Stovall getting the points he won’t have to.
