Duck update--They’re hot, tying a club record with a seven-game unbeaten streak, but they’ll have to beat or tie the NHL’s best team to break the record, set last March. The Ducks have never won in Denver, but tied the Avalanche, 6-6, at McNichols Arena in October. Teemu Selanne, who moved into second in the NHL scoring race with three points in the Ducks’ 5-2 victory over the Rangers on Friday, has seven goals during the seven-game streak, and Paul Kariya has six. Guy Hebert has held opponents to two goals or less six times in seven games.

Avalanche update--The defending Stanley Cup champions have the best record in the NHL and are 21-6-4 at home. They’ve won nine of their last 12 but are coming off a 6-3 loss at Washington on Thursday with backup Craig Billington in goal instead of Patrick Roy the night after Roy’s triumphant return to Montreal. Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic are the team’s leading point-producers and Adam Deadmarsh is the top goal-scorer with 27 goals.
