Two Coaches Are Fired at Ohio State
Ohio State made sweeping changes in its men’s and women’s basketball programs Monday, firing coaches Randy Ayers and Nancy Darsch. The men’s team finished 10-17, the women 12-16.

George Blaney was fired as Seton Hall’s coach and Athletic Director Larry Keating resigned after the team posted its second consecutive losing season. . . . Richard “Doc” Sauers, whose 702 victories make him one of the nation’s winningest basketball coaches, has retired after 41 years at Albany State. . . . Tim Duncan of Wake Forest was a unanimous selection for the All-America team and became the first repeat choice since Shaquille O’Neal of Louisiana State five years ago. . . . Michigan says a basketball booster gave a birthday cake to a player after practice and dropped by the home of a recruit during a visit by coach Steve Fisher--violations of NCAA rules. The school’s findings were given to the NCAA and included a series of minor, self-imposed sanctions.
