Ventura County sheriff’s deputies arrested two 18-year-old men early Tuesday just outside Thousand Oaks on suspicion of robbing the Donut Hut on the 600 block of Lindero Canyon Boulevard.

Ryan Dafesh of Woodland Hills and William Mitchell of Oak Park were spotted by deputies about 3 a.m. walking away from the doughnut shop right after the robbery, said Det. Frank O’Hanlon.

The men allegedly ran off, but were chased down by deputies, O’Hanlon said.

Although the two men deny robbing the shop, authorities said they were tentatively identified by witnesses as the masked pair who robbed the store at gunpoint.

Police recovered the suspects’ car but did not find any money, masks or weapons on the pair, O’Hanlon said.

Detectives believe the men stashed the money, masks and handgun in an apartment complex near the doughnut shop. Anyone who finds those items is being asked to contact authorities at 494-8215. Meanwhile, the suspects are awaiting arraignment in the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
