Donations to OCC Set Record in 1996
Fund-raising by the Orange Coast College Foundation reached a record $2.7 million in cash and in-kind donations last year, according to recent reports.
The 1996 figures are 13.3% greater than the $2.3 million collected in donations in 1995 and 3.6% higher than the previous record set in 1993, when the foundation collected $2.5 million in donations.
“Orange Coast is the community’s college, and the community has been extremely supportive,” said Ernie Vitucci, foundation chairman.
Cash donations in 1996 were about $1.4 million, while in-kind donations such as computers and teaching equipment were valued at $1.3 million. The average cash gift was $700. In-kind gifts averaged $4,903, officials said.
Since the foundation was formed in 1986, the total value of cash and gifts has topped $16.2 million, officials said.
