Laker update--The compensation for the Lakers’ recent shooting struggles is that they are averaging only 13.4 turnovers the last 14 games, and that’s even after committing 20 on Sunday. The game before that, they had nine, the second-best showing of the season. The Lakers have not lost to the Warriors at home in nearly three years, since April 12, 1994.

Warrior update--Their playoff hopes took a hit Monday night with a loss to the Clippers, a defeat that has the Warriors 3 1/2 games behind the Clippers tor the eighth and final postseason spot. Latrell Sprewell is averaging 26 points a game. Just as significant, after shooting 42.8%, 41.8% and 43.3% the last three seasons, he’s up to 45.2%. Chris Mullin is at 55.2%, No. 5 in the league overall and No. 3 among forwards. And with 59 appearances, Mullin has already played more games than in three of the previous four seasons.
