Fiset Steps Back Into Goal Tonight Against St. Louis

Share

Goaltender Stephane Fiset, who has sat out the last three games because of a groin/stomach injury, will start tonight against the St. Louis Blues at the Forum.

Fiset, who practiced with the team on Wednesday, had won five consecutive starts before suffering his injury at Edmonton last week.

“I know [goalie] Byron [Dafoe] is playing great, but Steph was hot before he got hurt,” said King Coach Larry Robinson, who sent backup goalie Jamie Storr down to the minors. “We want to see how [Fiset] is now.”

For conditioning reasons, forward Brad Smyth was sent to Phoenix, the Kings’ International Hockey League affiliate. . . . Defenseman Doug Zmolek, who had not played the last two games, is expected to be back in the lineup tonight. Robinson said that he thought Zmolek needed more conditioning after an irregular heartbeat was discovered for the second time in a month.
