A weekly update on the Mighty Ducks.

The Ducks are undefeated in March and suddenly the fourth playoff spot does not seem out of reach. Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

* Where they stand: 29-30-9 (67 points), third in the Pacific Division, tied for sixth in the Western Conference.

* Who’s hot: Guy Hebert is 7-1-3 in his last 11 games and has set a career high for saves in a season with 1,701 in 57 appearances.

* Who’s not: Brian Bellows continues to stay in the shadows at a time when veterans are expected to provide the scoring and leadership to get an inexperienced team into the Stanley Cup playoffs.

UPCOMING

* Today, St. Louis (7:30 p.m., no TV): This will be the third of a four-game trip the Blues see as a test. “Everyone knows what’s at stake,” Brett Hull told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “This is the biggest trip of the season so far.” So far, so good. With a 4-3 victory last Tuesday at San Jose, the Blues won on the road for the first time since Jan. 30. It also ended a seven-game winless streak.

* Sunday, Calgary (5 p.m., KCAL-TV Channel 9): Earlier this season Coach Pierre Page was cutting up the season into seven-game capsules to simulate playoff series. The first few fantasy rounds were positive, but this seven-game trip (two victories, three losses) would mean the Flames are facing possible elimination from the simulated playoffs with two games to go. Their bid for the real playoffs is troubled as well.

* Wednesday, Kings (7:30 p.m., KCAL-TV Channel 9): The Kings, in delivering a wake-up call to the Ducks with a 3-1 victory Feb. 20, also gained some needed momentum to go 6-3-1. Ed Olczyk has the hot hand for the Kings with four goals and eight assists (12 points) in the last 10 games.
