St. Pat’s Festival and Parade Expected to Draw 15,000

The sounds of Ireland will kick off the third annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in Hermosa Beach today.

More than 15,000 people are expected to turn up for the all-day event, which will begin at 11 a.m. with a parade that will travel from Pier Avenue at Valley Drive west to Hermosa Avenue and south to 8th Street. More than 100 entries have been received for the parade, including high school bands, floats, community and Irish organizations.

The festival will include Irish folk music, dance exhibitions from the Beach City Cloggers and performances by several children’s group. Stages will be set up at 9th Court and at the base of the pier, where an ancient Irish Village will be on display. A children’s carnival will be located on 13th Street.
