Dave Andreychuk scored his 500th NHL goal and the New Jersey Devils extended their home unbeaten streak to 15 games with a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday at East Rutherford, N.J.

Doug Gilmour and Valeri Zelepukin also scored for the Devils.

New Jersey has won nine of 10 games since the Feb. 25 trade that brought Gilmour and Dave Ellett to New Jersey from Toronto. They are 9-0-6 in their last 15 home games.

Andreychuk scored on a power play at 9:03 of the first period. He became the 26th player to score 500 NHL goals, going into the crease to backhand a rebound of Bill Guerin’s shot past goaltender Bill Ranford. “Every time I stepped on the ice, I was thinking about that,” Andreychuk said. “I look at the list and it’s hard to believe my name is on that list. There’s some great names on the list.”
