Successful Women to Discuss Careers

Share

In observance of Women’s History Month, Estancia High School will present a Thursday conference on career opportunities for young women.

The purpose is to teach self-esteem and self-sufficiency to students and to inform them about educational and career options, said Mimi Birch, assistant principal at Estancia.

Since school began in September, Birch has been working closely with students to show them career alternatives as a diversion to teen pregnancy, drugs, gangs and other paths that lead to or continue a life of poverty.

At this week’s conference, successful women will address Estancia students, sharing personal stories. Martha Daniel, president and founder of Irvine-based Information Management Inc., will be the keynote speaker.

Other panelists are: Lt. Cmdr. Jill Angel of the California Highway Patrol; Dr. America Bracho, executive director for the Latino Health Center in Santa Ana; Jane Gerda, film producer at Magic Garden Productions; and Lori Nadeau, entrepreneur and founder of Lady’s Touch, a window washing company.
