Nevada Las Vegas Outlasts Hawaii, 89-80

Tyrone Nesby scored six of his 26 points in overtime as Nevada Las Vegas defeated Western Athletic Conference rival Hawaii, 89-80, in a second-round game Monday night at Las Vegas.

The Runnin’ Rebels (22-9) avenged two losses to Hawaii by a combined three points in the regular season and will play Arkansas in the quarterfinals at a site to be determined.

Eric Ambrozich scored 22 points for Hawaii (21-8), which was in the postseason for the first time since reaching the NCAA tournament in 1994.

West Virginia 76, North Carolina State 73--Offensive-minded West Virginia turned to its defense, confusing North Carolina State with a variety of zones and then getting some key foul shooting down the stretch to pull out the victory at Raleigh, N.C.

The Mountaineers (21-9) were led by Seldon Jefferson’s 19 points.

The Wolfpack finished 17-15.

Florida State 68, Michigan St. 63--Randell Jackson had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seminoles at Tallahassee, Fla.

Jackson made two free throws in the final 11 seconds to seal the victory for Florida State (18-11).

Michigan State finished 17-12.

Arkansas 76, Pittburgh 71--Kareem Reid had 15 points and 10 assists, and Pat Bradley’s three-point basket put Arkansas (17-12) ahead for good in a 76-71 victory over Pittsburgh (18-15) at Fayetteville, Ark.
