Shoulder Surgery Set for Laperriere

Share

Forward Ian Laperriere will miss the remainder of the season because of reconstructive surgery on his right shoulder, scheduled for March 25 at Centinela Hospital Medical Center. Laperriere, who scored 23 points in 62 games, is expected to make a full recovery for next season.

“It’s been getting worse and worse,” Laperriere said. “I’ve had to wear a brace the last 2 1/2 months, which is hard for a player who plays like I do. I’m not a goal-scorer. I’m a physical player, so this is something that I have to have.”

The Kings recalled rookie winger Brad Smyth from Phoenix on Monday. Smyth, who has eight goals in 42 NHL games, was named the International Hockey League player of the week after scoring five goals and seven points in three games with the Roadrunners.
