Feuer Speech Will Address Local Issues

There’s the State of the Union address, of course, and most parts of the country have State of the State speeches.

But the focus will be a little narrower tonight for City Councilman Michael Feuer’s “State of Sherman Oaks” address.

The speech is scheduled to anchor the regular 8 p.m. meeting of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn. at Glendale Federal Bank, 13300 Ventura Blvd.

Feuer, whose district includes most of Sherman Oaks, is slated to discuss issues including charter reform, the controversial Deervale-Stone Canyon development proposal and the prospects of a business improvement district along Ventura Boulevard.

“It will be a great opportunity for concerted discussion of the issues,” hesaid. “There should be a lot of give-and-take.”

Richard Close, president of the homeowners group, said, “The city of Los Angeles is in transition. Charter reform is on the April ballot. Secession is being discussed throughout the Valley. There are local Sherman Oaks problems that must be addressed.”

The meeting is free and open to the public.
