Loss to Kings Inspired Record Streak

Share

Which team last beat the Ducks?

The Kings.

They scored a 3-1 victory Feb. 20 in a game at the Forum that Duck goalie Guy Hebert said disgusted his team and became the catalyst for a franchise-record 11-game unbeaten streak.

And now they meet again with the Kings almost out of the playoff picture.

“It doesn’t matter,” Hebert said. “If they were 0-81 and we were 81-0, or vice versa, there’s no love lost between the teams. They’ll come out trying to keep us out of the playoffs and to keep their goal of making the playoffs alive.”

The Kings are eight points out of the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. The Ducks have moved into a tie for sixth place, two points out of fourth but only one point ahead of the two teams tied for eighth.

“You lose two games in a row and you could be in 10th, four points out of the eighth spot,” defenseman Dave Karpa said. “We’re the ones that have it all to gain and all to lose. The pressure’s all on us. They’ll come out relaxed and play hard.”
