Hart High was ready to face Burroughs in a Foothill League baseball game at Burroughs on Friday, but wasn’t prepared for a three-hour delay and an 11-1 loss.

Hart, ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, arrived at 2 p.m. for a 3:15 start, but Burroughs was expecting a 7:15 game. Burroughs Coach Jose Valle rounded up his players, but the umpires didn’t arrive until about 6.

When the game began, Hart’s pitching staff was still feeling the cold. Brian Hernandez (2-1) and Jeremy Shields yielded nine hits and four walks.
