King update--Vitali Yachmenev scored his third goal in three games, but it wasn’t enough for the Kings in their 2-1 loss at St. Louis on Thursday. With Stephane Fiset still out because of a groin-stomach injury, goalie Jean-Claude Bergeron is expected to start his first game for the Kings tonight in place of Byron Dafoe, who had started the last four games. This will be newly acquired forward Glen Murray’s first game back in Pittsburgh since he was traded two weeks ago. The Kings have not won at Pittsburgh since February 1992.

Penguin update--Unless New Jersey catches Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division, Pittsburgh will play the Devils in the first round of the playoffs. Since Jaromir Jagr was sidelined because of a leg injury in February, the Penguins have become an average team. Goaltenders Patrick Lalime and Ken Wregget are giving up nearly three goals a game, but the Penguins’ power play still ranks among the best in the league.
