A woman suffered second-degree burns Friday when a propane explosion started a fire that caused $75,000 damage to a condominium, investigators said.

Firefighters called to the 1800 block of Alabama Street about 11 a.m. saw flames shooting from a two-story home and a woman with burns over 30% of her body in the frontyard calling for help, said Fire Battalion Chief Chuck Reynolds.

Two dozen firefighters controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes. They were hampered by metal security bars, which firefighters had to cut.
