L.A. Can Handle Monday Night Events
The following is an observation I had as I sat in the Academy Awards traffic while I tried to get back to my apartment in the USC area.
On Monday evening, March 24, at 6 p.m., thousands of spectators converged on a South-Central venue for three hours to witness an event that would be watched by millions around the nation and the globe courtesy of ABC. There was even a blimp. And guess what? Not one of these guests likened their evening on Figueroa and Jefferson to a “vacation in Beirut!”
It’s time the NFL owned up to the fact that fans provide much more of the atmosphere at a sporting event than the surrounding area does.
