Laker update--What had recently developed as a foregone conclusion, can become official tonight: a Laker victory will clinch at least fourth place in the West and home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Elden Campbell and Travis Knight continue to show improvement but are still doubtful for tonight. Both have missed the last two games, Campbell because of a bruised buttock and Knight a sprained knee.

Maverick update--The Mavericks have lost 10 in a row, their longest skid since March 7-25 of last season. If that isn’t bad enough, they are averaging 82.4 points in the 10 and haven’t broken triple figures in 12 games. And it may not be bad enough--they still could finish in the middle of the Midwest Division.
