Popovich Might Keep Coaching Job

According to a San Antonio report, Gregg Popovich will probably return as the Spurs’ coach next season. Popovich, who also is general manager, took over as coach Dec. 10 when Bob Hill was fired.

Popovich denied that any decision has been made. “What you have is the opinion of sources,” he said.

The Dallas Mavericks signed forward Stacy King to a 10-day contract.

King, who is in his eighth NBA season, signed a 10-day contract earlier this season with the Boston Celtics. He averaged 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in four games with Boston. He also played 45 games this season in the Continental Basketball Assn.
