Seeing Red Over County Firetrucks

Best wishes to our departing Ventura County Fire Chief James Sewell, who is leaving after three years for Seattle. And thanks for reducing our unique, recognizable yellow firetrucks to the lowest common denominator: red.

Now when I drive past dozens of firetrucks from every county in the state at the next Malibu fire, I will not recognize our trucks and our firefighters. How about Sewell writing the county a check to repaint our red trucks back to the inferior yellow before he goes?

If you can’t commit, then don’t change our traditions.
