Police to Sponsor Car Seat Inspection
Police will sponsor a free car seat inspection today for all those who pass through a checkpoint at Pacific and Edinger avenues.
Santa Ana Police Sgt. Bob Clark said officers will not issue citations, but rather inspect car seats to see that they are well-designed and that babies have been properly buckled up.
Clark said that the harnesses on some car seats have been found to be defective, or have sharp edges.
The Santa Ana checkpoint will be open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Clark said.
Those who have their babies properly harnessed will receive coloring books.
Information in English and Spanish on the correct use of car seats also will available.
