Police are searching for a 24-year-old Oxnard man for allegedly shooting his neighbor to death.
Tony Martinez Nava, also known as Roberto Nava, was last seen running from the 5300 block of Cypress Road early Monday morning, shortly after 18-year-old Noe Guzman Romero was shot to death, an Oxnard police spokesman said.
Witnesses told police that the pair were sitting outside Guzman’s home and drinking beer with several other men when they began to quarrel. The argument seemed to have quieted down after Guzman shook hands with one of the men, police said.
But when the argument flared up again, Nava allegedly fired a few shots into the air and then shot Guzman once in the chest with a small-caliber handgun.
Nava, described as about 150 pounds and 5 feet 7 inches, was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark baggy pants and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts should call the Oxnard Police Department’s major crimes division at 385-7600.
