Ice Dogs Come Back in Overtime, 4-3

Domenic Pittis scored at 4:35 of overtime as the Ice Dogs defeated the Milwaukee Admirals, 4-3, Saturday night at the Long Beach Arena, taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-5 International Hockey League quarterfinal.

John Byce scored short-handed for the Ice Dogs with 50 seconds remaining to force overtime.

The Ice Dogs, who never led during regulation, tied the score while killing off a five-minute major to Patrick Augusta, who was called for a slashing penalty.

The Admirals, who had the second-best power-play unit during the regular season, were held scoreless on their four opportunities.

Milwaukee led, 1-0, on a goal by Peter Douris 2:15 into the game. Darryl Williams tied the score with a goal midway through the period.

Eric Fenton gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead in the second period.

Valeri Karpov tied the score for the Ice Dogs on a power-play goal in the third.

Tony Hrkac put Milwaukee back in front, 3-2, late in the third period.
