New Editor Named at Los Angeles Magazine

New York-based Fairchild Publications moved to turn up the glamour at Los Angeles magazine, naming Spencer Beck editor in chief of the publication. Beck, 36, is currently features editor of W, Fairchild’s glossy chronicler of the fashion elite. Beck replaces Michael Caruso, who was sacked last month in what was seen as the first step in converting Los Angeles into a lifestyle publication. But Beck said that while Los Angeles will get a new, “very stylish, very sophisticated” look, it will not go soft. “We will keep what they do well, which is hard-hitting city stories,” he said. Fairchild is a unit of Walt Disney Co.’s ABC division.
