City Unveils Priority List for Prop. K Funds

Share

The city’s chief administrative officer released the latest version Monday of a list of “priority projects” scheduled to receive funds from Proposition K, a county measure that voters overwhelmingly approved in November.

Of the 28 projects on the city’s “A List,” eight are in the Valley, totaling a projected $11 million for fiscal 1997-98. The list was determined by a city committee after five public hearings in the last two weeks.

Included on the list are some controversial sites, including the 80-acre Deervale-Stone Canyon area in Sherman Oaks that has long been targeted by developers. The city is considering allocating some Proposition K funds for the possible conversion of the land to open space.

Senior administrative analyst Tom Grant said the listed projects are not guaranteed to proceed, but they are those that the city believes will obtain environmental clearance by the start of the fiscal year July 1.

* Creation of a senior citizen center at North Hollywood Multi-Purpose Center.

* Construction of a child-care facility at Tarzana Recreation Center.
