A 42-year-old Pearblossom man was killed and eight others were injured in a two-car collision when a woman’s van broadsided a pickup truck, CHP officials said.

Driving the van north on Challenger Way, Desiree Gravelly, 43, struck a pickup truck traveling west on Avenue G about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Richard Perez.

There were four people in the van and five people in the truck. One man died in the accident. His name had not been released late Wednesday.

Richard Durham, 33, of Lancaster, the driver of the pickup truck, was taken to UCLA Medical Center with major injuries, Perez said.
