Re: “British Art World Upset by Getty Bid,” April 19. Your report missed a few delicious ironies. Does Britain uphold its own “liberal” standards when dealing with the art heritage of other nations? Are not the Elgin Marbles or the Egyptian artifacts or the priceless treasures of India “connected with the national history” of Greece, Egypt and India (to name only a few)?

Cultural colonialism has many forms, and Yankee dollars are just the currency of the times.
