Thursday is the deadline for visual and performing arts organizations that are based in Orange County and that perform in Newport Beach to apply for the city’s cultural arts grants. Last year, $40,000 in grants was awarded to 15 groups. Applications: (714) 717-3870.

The Ballet Pacifica Conservatory in Irvine will hold auditions May 10 for intermediate through advanced students to participate in workshops July 28 through Aug. 23. Guest teachers will include David Allan, formerly with the National Ballet of Canada and currently a faculty member at UC Irvine; Diane Diefenderfer, formerly with the Frankfurt Ballet and currently at UCI; Tina LeBlanc, principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet; and Afshin Mofid, formerly with the New York City Ballet. Ballet Pacifica’s artistic director, Molly Lynch, will head the faculty. The workshops will culminate in a performance of repertory and original works Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at the UCI Village Theatre.
