Pacific Symphony music director Carl St.Clair has completed the first in a series of compact discs with the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra surveying all 12 symphonies by Hector Villa-Lobos. The first disc, slated for release in 1998, includes the sixth and eighth symphonies. Symphonies No. 4 and 12 are to be recorded in July. The cycle, which will fill an undetermined number of discs, is to be completed in 1999. St.Clair is scheduled to conduct the orchestra in concerts next March. The discs are for release by CPO Records, a European label distributed through Naxos.
