* Today: Robert Smaus, garden editor for the Los Angeles Times and author of “52 Weeks in the California Garden.” Smaus will present “Favorite Gardens, Favorite Plants,” an overview of his picks of the best in Southern California.

* May 17: Pamela Seager, executive director of Rancho Los Alamitos, will speak on “Florence Bixby’s Rancho Los Alamitos Gardens.”

* May 24: Mary Lou Heard, owner of Heard’s Country Gardens, will present “Creating and Refurbishing Your Lush, English-Style Cottage Garden.”

* May 31: Mary Brosius, curator of Descanso Gardens International Rosarium, will speak on “Companion Plants for Roses: Creating Stunning Visuals With Irises, Herbs and Perennials.”

* June 7: Gary Jones, landscape designer and owner of Hortus Nursery in Pasadena, will present “The Smell of Frost and Silence: Fragrance in Your Garden.”

* June 14: Shirley Kerins, landscape architect and curator of the Huntington Library Herb Garden, will discuss “Designing Your Own Garden of Herbs and Making Them Work in Your Home.”

* June 21: Clair Martin, curator of the Huntington Library Rose Garden and author of “100 English Roses for the American Garden,” will offer rose tips.

* June 28: Julie Bush and Michelle Sullivan, landscape architects for Walt Disney Imagineering, will present “The Magic of Disney Landscapes.”

The lectures are included in the price of library admission.
