Man, 21, Killed in Drive-By Shooting
A Santa Ana man was killed Saturday morning in what police are calling a gang-related drive-by shooting.
Julio Cesar Rodriguez, 21, was washing his car at about 7 a.m. with his brother-in-law in the parking lot of his apartment on South Minnie Street when two male assailants pulled up in a compact car, police said.
The passenger yelled out a gang name and fired two shots from a handgun pointed out the window, striking Rodriguez once in the chest, Police Lt. Bob Chavez said.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead on arrival at the Western Medical Center-Santa Ana trauma unit.
There were no arrests. Santa Ana police gang experts are investigating.
