TEMECULA--Taste of the Valley gives visitors the chance to sip and sample food and see the Arts in the Country ’97 juried show. About 30 local restaurants, plus wineries and brewers, will set up shop June 8 in a tent near the Embassy Suites hotel, at Rancho California and Ynez roads. CHICO--The 158th anniversary of the birth of Annie Bidwell, wife of Gen. John Bidwell, a city founding father, will be celebrated June 28 on the grounds of the 26-room mansion she called home. Annie’s Birthday Bash and Watermelon Feed will include a watermelon-eating contest and crafts activities. 1-3 p.m. $3 adults, $1.50 children 6-12, under 6 free. VICTORVILLE--At the 21st Huck Finn Jubilee, June 13-15, visitors can compete in egg tossing, greased pole climbing and river raft building. GRASS VALLEY--The July 4th blowout will begin with a parade at 11 a.m. along Main Street. Then there will be food and craft vendors, jugglers, clowns and musical entertainment at the fairgrounds.
