Family Center Plans Leadership Facility
The Mar Vista Family Center will expand its programs with construction of a leadership facility. Through a $350,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation, the family center is embarking on its latest project to teach leadership skills to low-income community residents, said founder Betty Factor.
The new facility will provide parenting classes and other programs in keeping with the 20-year-old center’s goal of providing free child care to working families, Factor said.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, during which civic leaders will honor 32 local youths who have agreed to help build the center.
