Girl, 15, Is Feared Drowned as Ocean Search Continues
Los Angeles County lifeguards searched into the night Wednesday for a 15-year-old girl who may have drowned in the surf off Will Rogers State Beach.
The girl, whose name had not been released, was swimming in the surf about 6 p.m. when relatives suddenly lost sight of her.
Lifeguards and other rescue personnel, using boats and helicopters, continued to look for the girl after dark Wednesday. But based on information they had gathered, authorities said it appeared increasingly unlikely that the girl would be found alive.
