Marinovich Hurt in Car Crash

Former USC and Los Angeles Raider quarterback Todd Marinovich was injured Wednesday in a six-car collision on Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach.

The accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. when Marinovich, 27, collided with a van driven by David Murray, 61, at Newport Boulevard and Finley Avenue. Four other drivers then crashed into the two vehicles, police said.

Marinovich suffered a chest contusion and was treated and released at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, officials said.

Murray and his wife, Ida, 53, suffered minor injuries and were listed in stable condition at Hoag Memorial Hospital late Wednesday.

A third victim, Harry Kassabian, 43, suffered cervical and leg injuries, police said. He was listed in stable condition at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian. Three other drivers involved in the crash were not injured.

No one was cited for the accident, but police said they are investigating the cause.
