Bomb Squad Gets Scare at Headquarters
The sheriff’s bomb squad got to exhibit its skills Friday at department headquarters in Monterey Park.
The building was evacuated after workers found a package and the explosives experts were called to the facility about 2 p.m., said Deputy Benita Nichol. They used a remote-controlled device to open the package, which turned out to be harmless, she said. Nichol said “it contained religious pamphlets and tapes.”
