Beach Boy Mike Love Plans Orange Club
Beach Boys singer Mike Love on Monday said that Orange County will host the first location in his planned chain of nightclub/restaurants.
Mike Love’s Club Kokomo, proposed for the Stadium Promenade at Katella Avenue and Main Street in Orange, takes its name from a hit single by the Beach Boys. The Stadium Promenade project is being built at the site of the former Orange Drive-In Theater.
Love said he has signed a development agreement with Syufy Enterprises, the San Francisco-based company that operated the drive-in.
The 15,000-square-foot Club Kokomo will include a restaurant and bar, a concert nightclub, an interactive kids center and a retail store featuring apparel and other products designed by Love.
Stadium Promenade, adjacent to the Pond of Anaheim, is one of several retail/entertainment centers proposed for development in Southern California.
